Press Release: Clinton Presidential Library Groundbreaking


Groundbreaking for the Clinton Presidential Library will be held Wednesday December 5th in Little Rock, Arkansas. The event will take place in the 27-acre William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Park in downtown Little Rock. Construction will begin in early 2002 with completion scheduled for 2004.

In addition to the Library and Museum, the Clinton Presidential Center will include the Clinton Policy Center and the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service, efforts to move forward on the project were finalized November 1 when the Arkansas Supreme Court ruled unanimously in favor of the City of Little Rock in its efforts to obtain the property for the Clinton Presidential Park. The Clinton Presidential Center will be built with private funds. These funds are being raised by the Clinton Presidential Foundation.

In conjunction with the groundbreaking, a special preview exhibit featuring items the Clinton Presidential Library Collection will also open on December 5. This exhibit will be located in the Cox Building of the Central Arkansas Library System. The Cox Building is within walking distance of the library site. The preview exhibit will run from December 5 through March 2. The Clinton Collection is the largest in Presidential history.
