The Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation (the “Foundation”) is committed to the lawful and transparent collection and use of personal information. This privacy policy (the “Policy”) explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use that information, and your options for controlling and updating your information.
This Policy applies to information we collect when you use our websites, mobile sites, mobile applications, mobile services, and other online services that link to this Policy (collectively, the “Sites”) or when you otherwise interact with us such as by participating in programs or donating to us. By using our Sites or by providing personal data to us, you consent to our use of the personal data in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree to the terms of this Policy, do not use our Sites.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect two types of information from you: (1) personal identifiable information voluntarily provided by you (“Personal Identifiable Information” or “PII”), and (2) non-identifiable data about your use of our Sites and interactions with us (collectively, “Information”).
We collect Information in the following ways:
- Information You Provide to Us. When you interact with us (by signing up to receive email updates, filling out a form, sending us an email, requesting information, responding to our requests, applying for a job, attending our events, participating in our programs, or making a donation for example), you provide us with Personal Identifiable Information that may include, but is not limited to, your name, email address, postal address, phone number, payment information (processed by a third-party payment processor), birthday, purchase history, the Foundation program you participate in, and other information or media you choose to provide.It is your choice to provide PII. You do not need to disclose more PII than is requested. You should not provide PII about others unless you are expressly authorized to do so.
- Information Others Provide to Us. We may receive PII about you from other sources including, but not limited to, your organization, publicly available sources, third-party analytics providers, or data aggregators who can assist with updating contact information or giving profiles or review publicly available information. For example, we may receive your PII if: someone at your organization designates you as a contact person or includes information about you in proposal documents; another visitor includes it in any feedback, comments, photos, videos, or other information submitted via online portals, electronic forms, surveys, or interactive portions of our sites; or if you create or log in to your account through a social media site and interact us with our social media accounts.
- Automatically Collected Information. When you access or use our Sites, we automatically collect certain types of information, including your:
- Session date and time;
- Internet Protocol (IP) address;
- Internet Service Provider (ISP);
- Location;
- Language;
- Browser, operating system, and device types;
The above information is collected using tracking technology, including cookies and web beacons. The information collected via cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies is anonymous and not personally identifiable.

We use these technologies across our Sites and social media platforms. Cookies allow the Foundation to measure activity on the Sites and to improve your user experience by, for example, remembering your passwords and viewing preferences and allowing you to visit any member-only parts of the Sites without re-registering. We may also use this information to protect the integrity of the Sites and our business, such as preventing fraud, hacking, and other criminal activity, or to meet legal obligations. If you do not want us to collect information using cookies, you can disable this function in your browser. If you block such cookies, you may not be able to see personalized content and our website may not function optimally.
We and our partners may also use these tools to provide targeted advertising to you online based on your interactions with our Sites or other websites. The Foundation may use electronic images known as web beacons to monitor activity on our Sites, as well as across social media platforms and other websites. These web beacons allow the Foundation to provide personalized services and advertising content to you.
USE AND DISCLOSURES
How We Use Your Information
We may use your Information for various purposes, including to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Sites;
- Respond to your requests, questions, and comments and provide customer service;
- Facilitate participation in our events and programs or those of our partners;
- Request feedback and to otherwise contact you about your use of the Sites;
- Send you newsletters, surveys, notices, content or otherwise provide you with information or services that you request or that we think will be of interest to you and track how you interact with those communications;
- Solicit volunteers, donations, and support for the Foundation;
- Process any purchase orders;
- Provide personalized services on our Sites;
- Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with the Sites; and
- Carry out any other purpose for which the information was collected.
Disclosure of Information
We do not share, transfer, exchange or disclose PII with third parties, except:
- With our employees, agents, subsidiaries, and affiliated entities, and certain third parties, such as contractors and service providers that need access to such PII to provide services to you and us;
- With cooperative databases, such as like-minded organizations, and research vendors who use the information to help their clients identify individuals likely to appreciate and respond favorably to communications, unless you opt out as described below;
- To change website hosts or when our host transfers business assets (as described below);
- In response to a request for PII if we believe the disclosure is in accordance with applicable law, court order, subpoena, or legal process, or as otherwise required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation, including to comply with the Foundation’s donor disclosure obligations;
- In connection with any reorganization, formation of a new or successor organization, asset sale or transfer, financing or lending transaction, or in any other situation where PII may be disclosed or transferred as an asset of the Foundation; or
- With appropriate notice to you, with your consent, or at your direction, including notice to you through our Sites that the information you provide will be shared in a particular manner and you provide such information.
We may also share aggregated or anonymized information that does not directly identify you.
DATA RETENTION
We store the Information for as long as is necessary for the purpose(s) for which we originally collected it, for other legitimate business purposes as is permitted by this Policy, or as otherwise required or permitted by applicable law.
YOUR RIGHT TO CONTROL YOUR PERSONAL IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION.

You may also make any of the following requests by emailing us at privacy@clintonfoundation.org or calling us at 212-397-2255:
- Request the categories or specific PII the Foundation has collected, used, disclosed, shared, and/or sold about you;
- Request to delete any PII the Foundation collected about you;
- Request to correct any inaccurate PII the Foundation has collected about you;
- Request to opt-out of targeted advertising; and
- Request to appeal any decision the Foundation makes regarding your privacy rights.
If you signed up for, but no longer wish to receive, Foundation emails, you may remove yourself from our distribution lists by clicking the “unsubscribe” link that is at the bottom of every email from the Foundation.
When you submit a request to us, our response is subject to our ability to verify your identity. To do so, we may ask for information such as your email address or telephone number.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of the privacy rights described above.
Do Not Track
Some browsers have a “Do Not Track” feature. At this time, our Sites do not respond to these Do Not Track requests or similar signals that you may employ.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES
The Foundation maintains a social media presence, such as a Facebook page, an Instagram account, a X (formerly known as Twitter) feed, and a YouTube page. When you interact with us through social media (such as by posting content or sharing our material), we may receive information such as your user ID, your profile picture, photos you post, and similar information which is often determined by your privacy settings on those social media platforms. We may use such information for the same types of purposes we describe in this Policy. Your use of social media is primarily governed by the platform operators’ privacy policies and terms of service.
Additionally, our Sites may contain links to third-party websites. This Policy does not apply to any third-party websites, which are governed by their own privacy policies and terms of use. We encourage you to review the privacy and other online policies of other websites that you link to, visit, and/or use.
CHILDREN UNDER 13 AND MINORS UNDER 18
The Foundation and the Sites are not directed to children under 13 and do not knowingly collect information from or about children online without verifiable guardian consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe you child under 13 may have provided PII through our Sites, please contact us at privacy@clintonfoundation.org and we will take all reasonable measures to delete such information from our databases and to not use such information for any purpose (except where necessary to protect the safety of the child or others as required or allowed by applicable law).
The Foundation also does not knowingly collect information from or about minors under the age of 18 online without verifiable guardian consent. Minors under 18 years of age may have their PII that they provide to us through our Sites deleted by sending an email to privacy@clintonfoundation.org requesting deletion. Please note that while we make reasonable efforts to comply with such requests, deletion of your personal information does not ensure complete and comprehensive removal of that data from all systems.
INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER OF INFORMATION
The Foundation is based in the United States, and we process and store Information in the U.S. and other countries. We may transfer your Information to, or store or access it in, countries which may have a less stringent standard of data privacy laws compared to those in your country of residence. The Foundation will take all steps reasonably necessary so that your PII is treated securely and in accordance with this Policy, and, where required by law, no transfer of your PII will take place to an organization or country unless such PII receives an adequate level of protection.
JURISDICTION SPECIFIC POLICIES
European Economic Area, UK, or Switzerland
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (“EEA”), the UK, or Switzerland, you have certain rights relating to your PII under the applicable data privacy laws, including to: (i) access personal data we hold about you and to ask that your personal data be corrected, erased, or transferred; (ii) object to the processing of your personal data; and (iii) make a complaint to a supervisory authority in your country of residence.
We will only process your data in the following situations:
- We need to use your Information to perform our responsibilities under our contract with you.
- We have a legitimate interest in processing your Information.
- We have your consent to do so.
- We have a legal obligation to process your personal data.
California
California law permits its residents to request certain information about our disclosure of PII to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year. This request is free and may be made once a year.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
The Foundation may update this Policy from time to time and will alert you that changes have been made by indicating on the Policy the date of its last update. This date is located at the top of the Policy. Your continued use of the Sites indicates your acceptance of the current version of the Policy.
