Press Release: Dedication Volunteers Show Up in Force
Volunteers, nearly a thousand of them from around the country and from every corner of Arkansas, gathered Saturday for a hands-on training session at Robinson Center in downtown Little Rock.
“We are extremely grateful for the huge response and commitment of time from our volunteers,” says Lena Moore, Director of Volunteer and Visitor Services. “It is also a tribute to President Clinton and his longstanding dedication to fostering community service.”
Each volunteer from this diverse group has been assigned to work within a specific division—events, receptions, Clinton Center museum store, hotels, media, entertainment, tours, and transportation—during the William J. Clinton Presidential Center Opening and Dedication week, November 14-19, 2004.
The orientation session began with Isabelle Rodriguez, Chief Operating Officer for the Grand Opening; Skip Rutherford, president of the Clinton Presidential Foundation; and Stephanie Streett, Clinton Presidential Foundation executive director, providing an overview of volunteer responsibilities, activities planned for opening week, the library’s economic impact on Little Rock, and the Clinton Presidential Foundation’s history, mission and programs.
“These volunteers are vital to making this an enjoyable and memorable event for our guests, said Skip Rutherford, president of the Clinton Presidential Foundation.
Afterwards volunteers broke into groups, where they trained for their assignments. The comprehensive session was designed to prepare volunteers to answer questions and handle the needs of the estimated 27,000 visitors attending the Clinton Foundation Dedication Ceremony on November 18, 2004. Several more advanced and detailed sessions will occur before the opening.
The hundreds of Arkansas volunteers came from the ranks of private and public service organizations including:
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity
Arkansas Young Professionals Network (AYPN)
City Year
Hendrix College
Job Corps
Leadership Greater Little Rock Alumni Association
Philander Smith College
Sigma Tau Fraternity at the University of Central Arkansas
University of Arkansas at Little Rock
