Indian Wells, CA—On January 25  26, President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton will host the Clinton Foundation’s fourth annual Health Matters Activation Summit, which brings together leaders in healthcare, public policy, veterans affairs, business, education, and professional sports to identify and implement strategies for systemic health improvement. Sponsored by Tenet Healthcare Corporation, the summit will be held in Indian Wells, California. The summit will follow the Humana Challenge, a PGA TOUR event, held in partnership with the Clinton Foundation on January 21 – 25 in La Quinta.

The Health Matters Activation Summit is the embodiment of the continued work of the Clinton Health Matters Initiative (CHMI), an initiative of the Clinton Foundation. CHMI works in local communities and implements programs to improve the health of everyday Americans, touching the lives of 75 million people.

This year, CHMI is teaming with Spike TV, a division of Viacom, to bring a focus on veteran’s health and wellness to the Health Matters Activation Summit through Spike’s Veterans Operation Wellness (VOW) campaign. In cooperation with CHMI, Spike will bring veteran partners to the Health Matters stage for a special Town Hall, create fitness activations throughout the conference, and share content from the event with their TV and digital audiences.

The Town Hall will be moderated by VOW spokesperson and ABC News Nutrition & Wellness Editor Dave Zinczenko. Olympic Gold Medalist Summer Sanders and former NFL Player Dhani Jones will serve as co-hosts of Spike’s Playbook 360 broadcast from the summit. Beyond the stage, VOW non-profit partners, the Boot Campaign, and Team Red White & Blue will host activations at the Renaissance Indian Wells that will highlight and involve conference participants in veterans health and community building activities that use fitness to build connections. On the final day of the summit, the VOW GoRuck Challenge will transform the summit’s host site into a military-themed fitness challenge that will provide returning veterans and civilians alike physical activity to foster the spirit of camaraderie and teamwork.

The Summit’s Opening Reception will feature tasting stations from America Cooks with Chefs, where contestants will show off their new healthy cooking skills in front of a live audience. America Cooks with Chefs teams celebrity chefs with contestants from across the country to learn cooking skills that will help them cope with many health related issues that Americans face, including cooking on a budget, weight loss, encouraging kids to eat healthy foods and more. The six James Beard Award–winning chefs are: Maria Hines, Jimmy Schmidt, Mary Sue Milliken, Naomi Pomeroy, Tony Mantuano, and Michelle Bernstein. The series chronicles the journey to healthier eating and living and also gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the nation’s top restaurant kitchens.
