Statement from President Clinton on the Passing of Arnold Palmer

Arnold Palmer was golf’s everyman, who became its face and its heart to the first television generation. We loved him most as the underdog who never gave in and often came from behind to win. I first played with him in 1993 and always loved being with him on and off the course. He always displayed the spirit, grace, and kindness that made everyone who knew him and millions more who cheered for him members of Arnie’s Army.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
