President Clinton to Visit Clinton Foundation Projects in the United States, Oct 30 – Nov 1.


Trip will highlight new partnerships and established programs working to improve lives in the United States through combating the opioid crisis, the empowerment of girls and women, healthcare, early childhood development and more.

NEW YORK — Beginning Monday, October 30, through Wednesday, November 1, President Bill Clinton will visit the work of the Clinton Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative commitments in the United States that are improving lives. The trip will highlight the Clinton Foundation’s cross-sector domestic impact.  

Over the past 16 years, the Clinton Foundation has worked around the U.S and across the world to help more than 11.5 million people access HIV/AIDS medication, more than 20 million American students access healthier meals, and make over 25,000 cartons (or 50,000 doses) of NARCAN® available to organizations serving populations affected by the epidemic across the United States.

On this trip, President Clinton will visit Clinton Foundation programs working to improve health and wellness in our schools and communities, empower girls and women, give parents the tools to stimulate brain development in early childhood, and strengthen our economic competitiveness. This work is carried out through a variety of initiatives and partnerships, including the Clinton Health Matters Initiative (CHMI), the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Too Small to Fail, and commitments made through the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).

President Clinton will visit sites in the Baltimore area, Northeast Florida, and St. Louis. The trip will kick off with a summit at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore to address the opioid epidemic, and the release of a landmark new report aimed at stemming the opioid epidemic, with comprehensive recommendations for the health care, advocacy, nonprofit, government, academic, and business sectors.

Monday, October 30- Baltimore, Maryland

  • Johns Hopkins University, Opioid Summit: President Clinton will join leaders from across the public health, business, labor, law enforcement, government and employment sectors for a one-day summit at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health: “The Opioid Epidemic: From Evidence to Impact.”

  • Too Small to Fail, Early Childhood Development: President Clinton will join representatives from Too Small to Fail and the Baltimore County Public Library to dedicate new “Talking is Teaching” themed panels that integrates learning with play.

Tuesday, October 31- Northeast Florida 

  • Clinton Health Matters Initiative and Too Small to Fail, supporting at-risk families: President Clinton will visit a joint effort by the Clinton Health Matters Initiative and Too Small to Fail to help mothers and infants. The project includes various resources for at-risk families and mothers facing addiction, and provides resources on early childhood development.

  • Clinton Health Matters Initiative (CHMI), Opioid Misuse/Overdose Prevention: President Clinton will visit several projects and meet with beneficiaries and partners that work with CHMI to address to the opioid epidemic and reduce drug use and misuse.  There will also be a Narcan donation from Adapt Pharma

  • CHMI Nutrition Project: For the past three years, CHMI has been running a working group to improve nutrition in Northeast Florida—one of their key bold steps for action. President Clinton will visit a project that has been repacking unused food into healthy, hot meals and donated to a local HIV shelter.

Wednesday, November 1- St. Louis, Missouri

  • Alliance for a Healthier Generation School Site Visit: President Clinton will tour a school in St. Louis to see examples of how the Alliance for a Healthier Generation is improving the health and physical activity of local students – including a community garden, exercise stations, and healthy hot meal options.

  • Local Farm/Metromarket: President Clinton will visit a donated city bus that, as part of a CGI U commitment, has been retrofitted into a grocery store on wheels, providing the St. Louis community in food deserts with access to healthy, fresh food.

  • Providing a STEM education to girls and women: Through a CGI commitment, Girls Inc., created the Eureka! Program, which meets all summer and every Saturday during the school year. Eureka! provides increased science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education to underserved girls and young women in low income neighborhoods in St. Louis, enabling and empowering them to lead financially sound, productive lives and preparing them for the world of work. President Clinton will meet with program participants and see various STEM projects.
