More than 50 percent of the world population lacks access to essential health services. We must close this gap.

Despite progress, too many people around the world face barriers to good health due to cost, availability, and quality of care.

The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) brings together partners — including leaders in the public and private sectors, civil society, youth leaders, community groups, innovators, and social entrepreneurs — to develop innovative Commitments to Action.

This work is informed by the life and legacy of the late Dr. Paul E. Farmer, co-founder of Partners In Health and extraordinary CGI partner. In every aspect of its health equity programming, CGI aims to uphold Dr. Farmer’s work and teachings – directing efforts and commitment development to vulnerable communities where structural inequities have the greatest impact on their daily lives and health. These efforts are centered around making quality health care more available, accessible, and equitable.

CGI’s health equity efforts prioritize partnership, commitment development, and programming across four main pathways – supply chain, infrastructure, tech-enabled healthcare, preparedness and readiness. We seek to:

close gaps in access,
address preventable differences in outcomes,
and prepare for the future of health.

CLIMATE HEALTH WORKING GROUP

The climate crisis is one of the critical challenges we face as a global community. It is not only causing direct health threats through extreme temperatures and weather events but it is also disrupting agriculture, education, and the economy, all of which have a profound impact on health.

Through the Climate Health Working Group, CGI is bringing together stakeholders across the public and private sectors and civil society to align on breakthrough areas, invest in them, and act.
