Democratize Education for Women Globally 2.0
Summary
In 2024, Mexoxo committed to democratizing education for 300,000 women lacking opportunities and access to knowledge in more than 155 countries by the end of 2025. Through its partner eCornell, Mexoxo will deliver five tailored courses offered through a digital learning platform to underserved women worldwide through scholarships. Available courses directly address the educational needs of marginalized women for adult education and training, guaranteeing relevance and profound impact. Local partners on the ground also help provide this education to women in vulnerable situations, creating a three-dimensional impact focusing on personal transformation, community empowerment, and ecosystem impact. Through this commitment, Mexoxo and partners aspire to use education as a vehicle for empowerment, breaking down economic and civic barriers and creating a more equitable and empowered global society.
Approach
In 2024, Mexoxo pledges to deepen its 2023 commitment to women globally by declaring its determination to continue its efforts to democratize education. By tripling its impact, Mexoxo aims to bring greater insight and maturity to this critical issue. Specifically, Mexoxo commits to expanding its reach from 102,032 women in 155 countries to 300,000 women by end-2025, offering them access to education and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Mexoxo is committed to reaching 300,000 women through a collaborative effort involving eCornell courses, multinational corporations’ monetary support, and on-the-ground partnerships. These partnerships facilitate the process of delivering education to women in vulnerable situations, creating a three-dimensional impact focusing on personal transformation, community empowerment, and ecosystem impact.
The eCornell partner contributes value by offering scholarships on five specialized courses, rigorous e-learning technical oversight, and faculty engagement. eCornell’s advanced e-learning platform accommodates hundreds of thousands of participants globally, ensuring widespread accessibility and scalability. Their expertise in curriculum development enables the creation of tailored course combinations that directly address the educational needs of marginalized women in adult education and training, guaranteeing relevance and profound impact.
Funding partners are pledging essential resources to sustain operations and ensure long-term viability. They are actively championing the democratization of women’s education, showcasing its transformative impact across diverse media channels such as press coverage, podcasts, and other public platforms.
A network of 34 crucial on-the-ground partners plays a pivotal role in recruiting and enrolling women, ensuring wide participation and diverse representation. These partners facilitate local adaptations of the program to align with cultural nuances, ensuring its relevance and respect for local customs.
Action Plan
In Quarter 1, Mexoxo will enhance their courses and upgrade their platform while renewing old partnerships and forging new ones with local nonprofit organizations across various regions and countries. They will prepare communication materials and design their operations strategy, including the formulation of surveys and cultural ethical protocols. Additionally, they will train trainers and facilitators to build the capacity of their partners, ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver their educational courses effectively.
In Quarter 2, Mexoxo will communicate the program and recruit women participants, ensuring a wide reach and engagement. They will enroll beneficiaries and conduct both virtual and in-person onboarding, empowerment, and educational sessions for the women participants. They will also track course attendance and gather commitment from participants to ensure active participation and engagement. During this quarter, they will perform regular measurement, reporting, and quality checks to monitor recruitment effectiveness and participant engagement, making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
In Quarter 3, Mexoxo will focus on monitoring course attendance and completion, and distributing letters of completion to participants who have successfully finished the courses. This step will not only recognize their achievements but also motivate them to continue their educational journey and apply their newfound knowledge and skills in their communities. They will conduct thorough measurement, reporting, and quality checks to assess course completion rates and the effectiveness of their educational content, ensuring high standards are maintained.
In Quarter 4, Mexoxo will analyze the data and combine all measurements to evaluate the overall impact of their program. They will celebrate the accomplishments of the 300,000 women learners with closing activities, recognizing their hard work and dedication. Finally, they will disseminate the program’s impact through quantitative and qualitative key performance indicators (KPIs) and success stories, highlighting the transformative effect of our initiative on the economic and civic lives of vulnerable women.
Background
Based on the latest World Economic Forum Global Gender Gap Report 2024, which covers 149 economies, the pace of progress towards gender parity is alarmingly slow, with a projected 134-year timeline to reach full parity. This far exceeds the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal target. While significant strides have been made, gaps persist, and the current economic and regulatory context plays a crucial role in shaping gender disparity, especially affecting the most vulnerable. Women are still struggling with the education gap, which positions them outside of the spaces where decisions about their lives are made. The most vulnerable face challenges such as poverty, food insecurity, child marriage, HIV, female genital mutilation, and other forms of gender-based violence. Additionally, intersecting factors such as race, ethnicity, economic status, religion, and sexual preference add further difficulties for women in securing their human rights.
