NEXT WEEK: President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton to host Clinton Global Initiative University’s Alumni Gathering at Cornell Tech in New York City

On November 2, distinguished alumni will attend plenary sessions led by President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton and convene to reflect and celebrate 12 years of social impact and innovation

New York, NY – On November 2, the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) will host its first-ever alumni gathering at Cornell Tech on Roosevelt Island in New York City to celebrate 12 years of impact and innovation by CGI U alumni. The day will feature plenary sessions led by President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton, in addition to alumni-led small-group discussions and networking opportunities.

In addition to President Clinton, founder and chair of the Clinton Foundation; and Chelsea Clinton, vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, featured speakers will include: Howard W. Buffett, professor and research scholar, Columbia University; Cheryl Dorsey, president, Echoing Green; Indra Nooyi, former chairman and CEO, PepsiCo; and Zainab Salbi, humanitarian, journalist, and author.

CGI U recently announced a major expansion of the program, including year-round programming and the first international annual meeting at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. This event is part of the CGI U program expansion and highlights CGI U’s long-term commitment to inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs and global innovators by providing on-going support to participants and alumni through a wide range of resources, expertise, and mentorship.

At this event, young leaders, business and nonprofit executives, philanthropists, and members of the media, will come together to renew commitments to social impact and innovation, and celebrate their progress to date. Group discussions led by alumni will include topics such as: Using Art & Media for Social Innovation, Pitching for Investment, Scalable Systems, Scalable Impact, Diversity & Inclusion: Ensuring No One is Left Behind, Social Listening During Disaster Response, and more.

Launched in 2007, CGI U is a leadership development program run by the Clinton Foundation for undergraduate and graduate students – each year, students from around the world gather and meet with topic experts, academics, and other influencers to develop Commitments to Action.

With a network of over 10,000 alumni from more than 1,100 schools, 163 countries, and all 50 states, CGI U students have made over 8,000 Commitments to Action, positively impacting their hometowns, their college campuses, and communities around the globe.

In this plenary session, members of the CGI U community will share their journeys through hardship, failures, and challenges as they commit each day to make a difference around the world.

In this plenary session, leaders from the nonprofit, business, and philanthropic sectors will share their experiences, lessons learned, and the core values that inform and inspire their leadership during this age of both promise and uncertainty.
