CGI 2025 Recognized for Excellence in “Resource Mobilization” by the Anthem Awards

At this year’s Anthem Awards, the Clinton Global Initiative received the Silver Anthem Award, recognized in the category of Event for Fundraising and Resource Mobilization in the Humanitarian field

As the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) prepared for its 20th anniversary this year, President Bill Clinton called the community together for a meeting that looked much different than previous years.

“Given the scope of the challenges we face, this year’s CGI meeting will be different — by necessity,” President Clinton wrote in a letter to the CGI community this summer. “We need to redefine how we show up, how we work, and how we find ways to honor our common humanity.”

In practice, this meant a dramatic shift to this year’s format. The CGI 2025 program had a heavy emphasis on new working group convenings — sessions where project plans were drafted and commitments accelerated.

The CGI community launched 106 new commitments at this year’s meeting – tackling humanitarian crises, climate, global health, economic opportunity, women and girls’ empowerment, and much more. Even more critically, the working groups built new coalitions and charted a course for more impact in the months and years ahead – including new humanitarian funding opportunities and a shared information system for responding NGOs.

In recognition of this work to mobilize resources at a critical time, today CGI received an Anthem Award from the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS), celebrating mission-driven work worldwide and highlights CGI’s continued commitment to fostering meaningful, collaborative solutions.

“This award is a testament to the partners, community leaders, and commitment-makers who show up every year to drive real and measurable impact,” said Greg Milne, CEO of the Clinton Global Initiative. “The 2025 Annual Meeting reflects what CGI does best: bringing people together to turn ideas into action. We are grateful for their leadership and inspired to keep pushing forward together.”

Participants from this year’s CGI included: José Andrés, Founder and Chief Feeding Officer, World Central Kitchen; Matt Damon, Co-Founder, Water.org & WaterEquity; Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, World Health Organization; President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Founder and Chair Emeritus, The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development; Cindy McCain, Executive Director, World Food Programme; Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados; Gavin Newsom, Governor, California; Maria Ressa, Co-Founder and CEO, Rappler; Professor, Columbia University SIPA; Peter Sands, Executive Director, The Global Fund; Mark Suzman, CEO and Board Member, Gates Foundation; Audrey Tang, Cyber Ambassador, Taiwan; Hamdi Ulukaya, CEO and Founder, Chobani; Darren Walker, President, Ford Foundation; and more.

The honor builds on CGI’s strong track record at the Anthem Awards; last year, for the second year in a row, the 2024 Annual Meeting received a Gold Anthem Award for Best Humanitarian Event. This continued recognition underscores CGI’s enduring role as a catalyst for action, accountability, and collaboration.

This year, several of CGI’s partners were recognized by the Anthem Awards as well, including AARP, The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Mobilize Recovery, UNICEF, and World Central Kitchen.

Since 2005, members of the CGI community have made more than 4,300 Commitments to Action in partnership with over 13,000 organizations across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors that have touched the lives of more than 500 million people in more than 180 countries.
