Behind the Numbers: Clinton Foundation Launches Multimedia Feature to Explore Stories of Impact around the World

New interactive site will provide a behind-the-scenes look into the people, places, and communities that have been positively impacted by Clinton Foundation programs

New York, NY – Today, the Clinton Foundation launched “Behind the Numbers,” a multimedia feature celebrating 15 years of impact through its initiatives and affiliated entities. The interactive site, found at clintonfoundation.org/behindthenumbers, tells the stories behind the impact of the Clinton Foundation and provides insight into how our initiatives work on the ground through a compilation of articles, blogs, infographics, videos, and more.

“At the Clinton Foundation, we know that metrics and measurement are key to delivering sustainable results – and we know they matter most for the people's stories that the data tell,” said Clinton Foundation Vice Chair Chelsea Clinton. “Behind the Numbers focuses on people who have been empowered by Clinton Foundation initiatives' work – so that we never forget why it is so important to keep track and keep score.”  

When President Clinton left the White House in 2001, he wanted to continue working on issues he cared about and where he knew he could make a measurable difference. Fifteen years later, the Clinton Foundation has empowered millions of people around the world to build better futures for themselves, their families, and their communities. Since its start, the Clinton Foundation has measured the impact of its programs in order to build upon what works. As a result of the work of the Clinton Foundation:

• In 70 countries, more than 11.5 million patients have access to lower cost, lifesaving HIV/AIDs treatment and diagnostics;
• More than 20 million students in nearly 35,000 U.S. schools are benefitting from improved physical education, health education, and healthier food;
• Partners are working to help prevent 10,000 opioid overdose deaths nationwide;
• More than 835,000 books will be distributed by the end of this year to kids and families in underserved communities to encourage reading to infants and toddlers to promote early brain and language development;
• In Malawi, Rwanda, and Tanzania, more than 150,000 smallholder farmers have been empowered through improved training on the latest techniques and technologies for improving their crop yields, and, in turn, their incomes;
• Partners are working to reduce the impact of carbon emissions by planting more than 2.6 million trees with local farmers in East Africa—sequestering more than 200,000 tons of CO₂; and,
• Across Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa, 600,000 people have been impacted through market opportunities created by social enterprises and health and wellbeing programs
