President Clinton Welcomes New Citizens at Naturalization Ceremony, Defends Immigration

On Monday, June 9, President Bill Clinton delivered remarks at a naturalization ceremony at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, congratulating 38 new American citizens from more than 15 nations while making a passionate case for immigration amid current policy debates.

President Clinton argued that America’s diversity has always been its greatest asset, citing that immigrants signed the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, founded many of the country’s largest companies, and fill critical job openings. He urged the new citizens to serve as living examples of America’s promise by building bridges across cultural and religious differences in their daily lives.
