Press Release: Announcement of Art Across Arkansas Project

On October 3rd, 2006, the THEA Foundation announced its project Art Across Arkansas. This project is an educational program created and sponsored by The THEA Foundation and the William J. Clinton Foundation. The mission of the program is to interest, inspire, and involve young people by placing fine art in the schools for a school year. Every participating school will receive a new exhibit each school year.

Through the experience of living with fine art on a daily basis, our students will have an opportunity to gain insights about themselves and their world that might not be possible otherwise. Each piece of art will include a biography of the artist and a statement of the medium utilized to create the work. The art, the stories of its creating artists and the long-term, daily contact conspire to enhance the creativity and self-expression of every participant beyond anything we can predict as we begin this journey.

Program highlights are:

  • Fine art created by the artists from Arkansas and internationally;
  • Installations placed in public schools, Kindergarten through grade 12, for a full school year;
  • Installations will rotate each year among participating schools;
  • Art will be in a location accessible to all students and teachers to enhance the opportunity to utilize it as teaching tool in subjects other than art;
  • No cost will be incurred by the schools;
