Press Release: Arkansas Earth Day Celebration at the Clinton Center
Festival to Include Special Announcement from the Clinton Foundation.
The Clinton Foundation is teaming up with the Arkansas Earth Day Foundation to bring the statewide festival celebrating Earth Day to the Clinton Presidential Park in Downtown Little Rock. The festival, a carbon–neutral event, is scheduled for Saturday, April 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will host over seventy-five community booths and a festive eco-friendly atmosphere including live entertainment, art, food and shopping.
This free event will have something for all ages and families, including educational activities that will help all of us become better stewards of our community and environment.
A highlight of the festival will include a major announcement from the Clinton Foundation that will include members of the United States Green Building Council, as well as state and local officials from across Arkansas. The program is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. near the main entrance to the Clinton Center. Immediately following the program, the Clinton Foundation will host a forum in the Garden View Room at the Clinton Center to detail the specifics of the 10:00 a.m. announcement.
It was previously announced that President Clinton would attend the event. However, due to a scheduling conflict, he is not currently scheduled to attend.
Other highlights of the festival will include:
Portions of Clinton Avenue and Dean Kumpuris Street will be blocked during the day of the event. Visitors are encouraged to park nearby at Heifer International and the River Market Parking Deck. There will be golf carts providing transportation from the parking facilities for those with special needs.
- Attendance by a majority of Arkansas' environmental organizations.
- Runners from Earth Keepers, voices for Native America, will conclude a 16-mile run from Toltec Mounds to the festival, where they will perform.
- Keep Arkansas Beautiful will lead a litter clean-up at Riverfront Park.
Arkansas Earth Day Festival is organized by the Arkansas Earth Day Foundation in partnership with the William J. Clinton Foundation. The festival is meant to elevate environmentally-conscious ideas, programs and education while promoting responsibility for a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.
The Clinton Foundation is committed to conservation. As America’s first LEED Certified presidential library, the Clinton Center and Park features sustainable buildings that implement state-of-the-art conservation systems for water use, energy efficiency, and indoor environmental quality. Using the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification process as defined by the U.S. Green Building Council, the Clinton Center achieved a Silver Rating from LEED.
Arkansas Earth Day Foundation is a non-profit, local coalition of concerned families, inspired seekers, elected leaders, and responsible businesses working to increase community awareness of environmental issues and access to sustainable solutions through education, events, recycling, networking, products and services.

Note: Although the Arkansas Earth Day Festival is Saturday, April 21, the National Earth Day is officially celebrated on Sunday, April 22.
