Press Release: Clinton Foundation and City Year Celebrate MLK Day 2006

City Year Little Rock kicked off its “Young Heroes” Program at a ceremony at the Clinton Center on Monday, January 16th. Forty 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students took an oath to serve as Young Heroes. These students will work with City Year corps members to complete six service projects from now until the end of May.

Following the ceremony, the youth and over 100 other volunteers from City Year, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, United Way and the Clinton Foundation spent the afternoon in service-painting walls and signs and providing overall maintenance and cleaning in East Little Rock at the Watershed Agency.

The day’s events honored the life’s work of Dr. King and celebrated local students who are committed to maintaining Dr. King’s legacy through citizen service. This is the third year that City Year has teamed with the Clinton Foundation for “A Day On-Not Off” in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr.
