Press Release: Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative Agreement in Lesotho

Lesotho, a small country located within the borders of South Africa, faces a serious and rapidly growing HIV/AIDS epidemic. With one in three adults between the ages of 15 and 49 infected with the virus, it has one of the highest prevalence rates in the world. In support of the government's efforts to combat the epidemic, the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative and the Ministry of Health recently signed an agreement to include Lesotho in the Initiative's Procurement Consortium to access low-priced ARVs and diagnostic tests. It is also providing technical assistance to develop a comprehensive national care and treatment plan.
