Press Release: Clinton Library Preview Exhibit Closes with Record Number Final Day Attendance

The Clinton Presidential Library's preview exhibit “Holidays in the White House” closed Saturday January 18 after nine weeks in the Cox Creative Center in Little Rock's River Market District.

The final day attendance of 716 pushed the overall attendance total to 12,842 passing the total of 12,335 reached during the first Clinton Library preview exhibit in Little Rock during the 2001-2002 holiday season. The first exhibit also lasted 13 weeks making the second exhibit's average daily attendance much higher.

The 716 attendees also set a one day record for an exhibit at the Cox Creative Center, according to Reita Miller, who coordinates the activities for the Butler Center at the Central Arkansas Library.

The “Holidays in the White House” exhibit drew people from 49 of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam. It also brought visitors from the following 23 countries: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Columbia, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Guinea, Peru, Romania, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and Wales.

“We were pleased to bring this exhibit to Arkansas, to Little Rock and to the River Market District where the Clinton Presidential Center is currently under construction,” said Foundation President Skip Rutherford. “One goal was to help bring people here during the winter months and to promote tourism. We were very pleased with the positive response.”

Rutherford said the Clinton Library?s third preview exhibit at Little Rock's Cox Creative Center will begin November 24, 2003 and run through January 3, 2004. It is titled, “America Presents: Books and Gifts from the Clinton Presidency.” It will feature gifts from each of the 50 states, inscribed books presented to the Clintons from authors, political figures and celebrities as well as a special section on Clinton's Elvis Presley collection.
