Press Release: President Clinton Scheduled to Speak in November

President to be Keynote Speaker for Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce's 2004 Annual Meeting.

The 42nd President of the United States, William J. Clinton, will be the special keynote speaker for the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce's Annual Meeting and Luncheon. The largest annual business event for the region will be held this year on November 16, only two days before the official opening of the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Center.

“We are extremely pleased that President Clinton will address our Chamber members during this historic week,” said Mike Coulson, Chamber Chairman of the Board and President of Coulson Oil Company. “The event will allow our business community to thank him again for the tremendous economic impact of his presidential library on our state and region's economy, while also celebrating his return to health after his recent heart surgery. We are indeed honored he will use the Chamber's Annual Meeting to make one of his first major public appearances during the weeklong activities surrounding the opening of his presidential library in Little Rock.”

To be held in Little Rock's Statehouse Convention Center, the Chamber's Annual Meeting has adapted the “Arkansas Globecoming” theme being used as a promotional link to reach the international visitors expected to visit Arkansas to see the $165 million Presidential Library and Museum. The Chamber's theme for the Annual Meeting is “GLOBECOMING FOR BUSINESS” and will feature an international flavor with senior business leaders and guests being asked to attend from all over the globe.

“This will be our first Chamber Annual Meeting to really embrace the concept of our global economy and champion its positive impact on the region's future economic growth,” said Paul Harvel, Chamber President & CEO. “We also plan to celebrate the growing diversity of nationalities that make our metropolitan region an economic engine for new jobs and new businesses.”

The full agenda for this major local, national and international media event is still in the planning stages. Chamber members will soon be mailed their invitations to the event. In addition to President Clinton's keynote address, the Chamber's 2004 Chairman of the Board Mike Coulson, will provide a recap of the Chamber's activities during 2004 and share the stage with the Chamber's incoming Chairman of the Board for 2005, Ed Drilling, President of SBC Arkansas.
