Press Release: President Clinton to Host 2nd Annual Clinton Global Initiative

First Lady Laura Bush, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, President Pervez Musharraf, President Hamid Karzai, King Abdullah & Queen Rania of Jordan, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Shimon Peres, Kofi Annan, Colin Powell, Richard Branson and many others to attend.

On September 20-22, 2006, President Clinton will host the second annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), an event that will bring together global leaders from business, politics, academia, science, religion, and non-governmental organizations, including numerous Heads of State and CEOs from major international corporations. CGI is a forum for participants to discuss and develop workable solutions to some of the world's most pressing
challenges.

The Clinton Global Initiative is a non-partisan event with an emphasis on results. Attendees will participate in workshops and meetings focused on four main topics: energy & climate change; mitigating religious and ethnic conflict; poverty alleviation; and global health. Attendees will make specific commitments to address one of the topics covered and will report to President Clinton on the progress made throughout the course of the coming year. Attendees who do not make or keep their commitment are not invited back to subsequent meetings.

The three-day conference will convene with a plenary session on Wednesday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m. with President Clinton and the First Lady, Mrs. Laura Bush, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, President Pervez Musharraf, and President Ãlvaro Uribe Vélez. This is preceded by a mandatory program briefing for the press at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

NOTE: President Clinton will make commitment certificate presentations at each plenary session.
