Statement: Death of Carl Whillock

Hillary and I are deeply saddened by the death of our friend Carl Whillock. He was an extraordinary man who excelled in many ways — as a lawyer, educator, university president, business executive, and public servant. He was one of my first supporters in 1974 and stayed with me all the way through the White House years, when he served with distinction in the Agriculture Department. Carl was humble almost to a fault. I never met a man who accomplished so much while promoting himself so little. Hillary and I loved him very much. Our prayers are with his wonderful wife Margaret and his family.
