Statement from President Clinton on the Passing of Jessye Norman
 

Jessye Norman was unmatched in her ability to captivate us with her powerful, gorgeous voice and her magnetic personality.  I’m grateful for her performances, especially at my second inauguration and at the 50th NATO anniversary banquet, when she left the assembled heads of state in awe with her a cappella performance.  And I will always be proud to have celebrated her at the Kennedy Center Honors.  Hillary and I give thanks for her life, her gifts, her generosity in sharing them, and the kindness she showed us over the years.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
