Statement from President Clinton on the Passing of Sonny Mehta

Sonny Mehta’s life was a gift to book lovers everywhere. Throughout his legendary tenure at Knopf, his impeccable instincts and passion for the written word brought some of the greatest books of our time to life. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to work with and learn from him across two decades, and will deeply miss his wisdom, his wry, quiet humor, and his always well-timed “get it done” prodding. My thoughts are with Gita, Aditya, his many friends, and all the people who were entertained and enlightened by his work.
