Following a successful series of New York-based codeathon events in 2013, Ace Hotel, the Clinton Foundation’s Health Matters Initiative (CHMI), Jawbone, and Tumblr will join the City of Palm Springs and Palm Springs Resorts to present the first health-based codeathon for 2014 on January 10-12 in Palm Springs, California.
On Friday and Saturday, teams will develop their health applications in a healthy atmosphere that will include healthy food choices and physical activity boosters. On Sunday, programmers and designers will complete their projects in the morning, and present their protoypes to judges and the public. Winners will be announced that day, following a speaking program that will include Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet, Clinton Health Matters Initiative CEO Ginny Ehrlich, and Travis Bogard, Vice President of Product Management and Strategy for Jawbone. Winners will receive up to three years of facilities and mentoring in Coachella Valley iHub and/or Palm Springs Accelerator Campus, and a BIG JAMBOX from Jawbone.
Codeathon partners invite local mobile, app and desk-top programmers to apply online. Deadline to apply has been extended to Monday, January 6, 2014 at 6am PST.
Codeathon partners also invite the public to Sunday's reception, demonstrations, and talks hosted at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club Palm Springs, beginning at 3pm PST on January 12, 2014. See the projects that have been developed over the course of the Codeathon, hear from some of the leading thinkers in health and tech, and be a part of #Code4Health. Register online.
