Hillary Rodham Clinton has spent over five decades in public service as an advocate, attorney, First Lady, U.S. Senator, U.S. Secretary of State, and presidential candidate. As 67th U.S. Secretary of State, her “smart power” approach to foreign policy repositioned American diplomacy and development for the 21st century. Clinton played a central role in restoring America’s standing in the world, reasserting the United States as a Pacific power, imposing crippling sanctions on Iran and North Korea, responding to the Arab Awakening, and negotiating a ceasefire in the Middle East. Earlier, as First Lady and Senator for New York, she traveled to more than 80 countries as a champion of human rights, democracy, and opportunities for women and girls. She also worked to provide health care to millions of children, create jobs and opportunity, and support first responders who risked their lives at Ground Zero. In her historic 2016 campaign for President of the United States, Clinton won 66 million votes. She is the author of ten best-selling books, host of the podcast You and Me Both, founder of the global production studio HiddenLight Productions, Chancellor of Queen’s University Belfast, and a Professor of Practice at the School of International and Public Affairs and Presidential Fellow at Columbia World Projects at Columbia University. She is married to former U.S. President Bill Clinton, has one daughter Chelsea, and three grandchildren: Charlotte, Aidan, and Jasper. 

As vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, Chelsea Clinton works alongside the Foundation’s leadership and partners to improve lives and inspire emerging leaders across the United States and around the world. This includes the Foundation’s early child initiative Too Small to Fail, which supports families with the resources they need to promote early brain and language development; and the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), a global program that empowers student leaders to turn their ideas into action. A longtime public health advocate, Chelsea also serves as vice chair of the Clinton Health Access Initiative and uses her platform to increase awareness around issues such as vaccine hesitancy, childhood obesity, and health equity.

In addition to her Foundation work, Chelsea teaches at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health and has written several books for young readers, including the #1 New York Times bestseller She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World as well as She Persisted Around the World, She Persisted in Sports, She Persisted in Science, Start Now! You Can Make a Difference; Don’t Let Them Disappear; It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going; and Welcome to the Big Kids Club. She is also the co-author of The Book of Gutsy Women and Grandma’s Gardens with Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton and of Governing Global Health: Who Runs the World and Why? with Devi Sridhar. Chelsea’s podcast, In Fact with Chelsea Clinton, premiered in 2021 and she is the co-founder of HiddenLight Productions.

Chelsea holds a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford, a Master of Public Health from Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health, and both a Master of Philosophy and a Doctorate in international relations from Oxford University. She lives with her husband Marc, and their children Charlotte, Aidan, and Jasper, in New York City.

Zayn Siddique is the Chief Executive Officer of the Clinton Policy Institute, where he leads the Institute’s efforts to advance the wellbeing of children and families through practical, state-driven policy solutions.

As Principal Deputy Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council under President Biden, Zayn led the development of a landmark executive order on care to make it more affordable and accessible for working families. He also led White House efforts to reform the student loan system, develop workforce training programs tied to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and CHIPS Act, and develop the first-ever White House Blueprint for a Renters Bill of Rights. Earlier in the Biden administration, Zayn served as a senior advisor in the White House Chief of Staff’s office, where he led policy development for State of the Union addresses and helped coordinate the administration’s Unity Agenda on mental health, opioids, and cancer research. He has also served in senior roles on multiple presidential campaigns and transitions, including roles in presidential and vice-presidential debate preparation.

Zayn also practiced law, focusing on complex litigation and regulatory matters. He previously clerked for Justice Elena Kagan of the U.S. Supreme Court, Judge David Tatel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and Judge Dean Pregerson of the Central District of California. A graduate of Princeton University and Yale Law School, Zayn began his career as a community organizer in the Red Hook Houses in New York City.

Jennifer Klein is chair of the Clinton Policy Institute at the Clinton Foundation. She is also the Ann F. Kaplan professor of professional practice at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and Director of the Ann F. Kaplan Women’s Initiative at the Institute of Global Politics.

During the Biden Administration, Klein was an Assistant to the President and the Director of the White House Gender Policy Council. Klein advised the president and vice-president on domestic and foreign policy issues, including women’s health and reproductive rights, gender-based violence, women’s economic security, and women’s human rights and democratic participation. During the Obama administration, Klein served as a Deputy and Senior Advisor in the Office of Global Women’s Issues at the US Department of State. During the Clinton Administration, she worked at the White House in a dual appointment as First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton’s Senior Domestic Policy Advisor and a Special Assistant to the President on the Domestic Policy Council.

A graduate of Brown University and Columbia Law School, spending her third year at Yale Law School, Klein began her career at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. She taught as an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University Law Center, as a senior visiting fellow in international and public affairs at the Watson Institute at Brown University, and as a visiting fellow at the Center for Global Legal Challenges at Yale Law School. She currently serves on the board of the National Women’s Law Center. She has previously served on the Brown University Women’s Leadership Council, the board of International Center for Research on Women, and the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership Advisory Council at King’s College London.

Dr. Lily Steyer is the Director of Child Policy at the Clinton Policy Institute. She has expertise in the design and evaluation of early childhood social policies to improve children’s healthy development and learning.

As a Society for Research in Child Development Policy Fellow with the California Department of Education, she worked on the implementation of the nation’s largest universal preschool program. Prior, her mixed-methods research focused on how poverty and inequality shape the life chances of children to inform equitable policy solutions. Her research has been recognized by numerous awards, including the Stanford Data Science Scholars Fellowship, Stanford Impact Labs PhD Fellowship, and Institute of Education Sciences Fellowship in Quantitative Policy Analysis.

She began her career in the nonprofit sector, advancing trauma-informed pediatric care and early education systems. She holds a Ph.D. in Developmental & Psychological Sciences and a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University.

Grace Landrieu is a policy strategist who has worked across domestic and economic policy in the White House, on presidential campaigns, and with state and local governments. She served as National Policy Director on the 2024 Biden and Harris presidential campaigns and as Deputy Policy Director on the 2020 Biden campaign. During the 2020 campaign, she helped develop many of the proposals that later became cornerstone legislation, including the American Rescue Plan, the CHIPS and Science Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the Inflation Reduction Act. In the White House, she served on the National Economic Council and Domestic Policy Council, where she helped design and implement landmark federal initiatives in labor and workforce development, caregiving, health, clean energy, procurement policy, and more. Before her work in government, Grace started her career as a teacher, founded an edtech company, and worked in education and technology to support innovation in classrooms nationwide. She holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School and a B.A. from Georgetown University.

Ali Bokhari is Deputy Director at the Clinton Policy Institute, bringing diverse experience across domestic policy, national security, public health, and strategic planning. During the Biden Administration, he served as Acting Director and Chief of Staff of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, Deputy Director for Domestic Policy Agencies at the White House Office of Presidential Personnel, and Senior Advisor at the Department of Health and Human Services. His background also includes serving at the Obama White House, the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, the NYC Mayor’s Office, and across multiple local, congressional, and presidential campaigns.

Dr. Bokhari trained as a physician at the New York Institute of Technology and is also a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health and the City University of New York at Brooklyn College. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, has taught as a guest lecturer at Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University, and has consulted on policy and government affairs. He has previously served on the American Medical Association’s Council on Science and Public Health, as President of the American Medical Student Association, and on Brooklyn Community Board 14.

Jennifer Klein is chair of the Clinton Policy Institute at the Clinton Foundation. She is also the Ann F. Tamar Eisen is Director of Health Policy at the Clinton Policy Institute, where she supports the development and advancement of CPI’s Women and Children’s Health agenda. In this role, she works with policymakers and multi-sector leaders to advance innovative policy solutions that expand reproductive rights and health, improve maternal and infant health outcomes, and protect access to childhood vaccines.

She brings nearly a decade of experience working on policies and programs to advance the rights and health of women and families. Prior to joining the Clinton Policy Institute, Tamar worked at the Center for Reproductive Rights, where she managed research and policy to protect and expand reproductive rights and maternal health nationwide. She previously served on the Gender, Women and Democracy team at the National Democratic Institute, managing programs to advance women’s political participation around the world. Tamar was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to teach English for a year in Kolkata, India. Tamar earned a Master’s of Policy Management from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Social Policy from Northwestern University.

Alanna McCargo is the Sir Evelyn de Rothschild Senior Fellow for Inclusive Capitalism at the Clinton Policy Institute, where she supports CPI in developing and advancing its Economic Security agenda. Working with state and local leaders, the private sector, philanthropy, and community organizations, she helps translate emerging policy challenges into practical, scalable solutions that expand opportunity, strengthen communities, and promote inclusive economic growth.

Her work is focused on three interconnected policy priorities. First, she supports CPI’s efforts to advance Affordability & Household Costs, partnering with states and cities to develop policies that reduce the costs of housing, childcare, healthcare, and other essential household expenses that strain family budgets and limit economic mobility. Second, she helps shape The Future of Work, Wages & Wealth agenda by advancing policies that expand employee ownership, strengthen pathways to wealth-building, and ensure workers share in the prosperity they help create as artificial intelligence, automation, and demographic shifts reshape the economy. Third, she supports CPI’s work on Delivering for Communities, helping modernize the community finance institutions, public finance agencies, and economic development systems that move capital so policy and investment can more effectively reach the families, entrepreneurs, and communities they are intended to serve.

McCargo brings more than two decades of leadership across government, finance, housing, and community development. Prior to joining the Clinton Policy Institute, she served as President and CEO of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco and was nominated by President Biden and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the 18th President of Ginnie Mae, becoming the first woman to lead the $2.5 trillion government mortgage-backed securities program. She also served as Senior Housing Finance Adviser to the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, where she helped shape national housing finance, community investment, and economic recovery policy.

In addition to her work at the Clinton Policy Institute, McCargo is the founder of iAM Housing Advisors and a Nonresident Fellow at the Urban Institute and serves on several advisory and nonprofit boards. Throughout her career, she has worked at the intersection of public policy, capital markets, and community development, designing solutions that expand opportunity, strengthen local economies, and improve economic security for workers, families, and communities.
