APPROACH AND METHODOLOGY
Business Creation is active in the fields of business redevelopment and job creation. This is mainly focused on geographic regions with high unemployment, and in cases of plant closures. Since its inception in 1982 the company has created more than 65,000 jobs all around the world.
In its solutions for job creation, Business Creation focuses on renewable energy (wind and solar) and waste recycling. The company has started to become a developer of wind and solar parks to feed the factories created by them.
Beginning recently, the owners of BC have created a fund (The Buzzy Bee Fund) that allows small investors to participate in solar PV parks. Five percent of the invested money goes, via the Buzzy Bee Foundation, to cultural development of orphanages in poor areas of the world.
IMPLEMENTATION, TIMELINE, AND DELIVERABLES
The first part of the commitment pertains to BC's 2007 CGI commitment:, 'Implementation of Wind Energy Production Worldwide' in which BC committed to contribute one percent of their US revenues in the field of wind and solar energy to CGI . This will continue with the 2010 commitment.
Over the next four years, BC will create at least 1,000 jobs in areas of high unemployment through activities in the renewable energy sector. BC will develop local and regional starter programs and entrepreneurial excellence centers, as part of their job creation programs. Including the company's investment, plus that of governments, approximately million will be invested in or loaned to small and medium enterprises over that time frame.
BC will invest a minimum of ,000 in orphanages in the coming 4 years with the following schedule:
2010 ,000
2011 ,000
2012 ,000
2013 ,000
Around the world, high unemployment has resulted from mass lay-offs in labor sensitive areas, from the United States, to Europe and Africa. In areas of high unemployment, social fabric disintegrates, and cultural activities drop to lower levels. Thus, preservation of social texture in these areas is of the utmost importance.
Business Creation has been active in these markets since 1982 and has significant expertise in identifying the critical areas and creating jobs. In total BC has carried out 120 projects in such areas.
Business Creation's core business helps address the challenges of climate change through its focus on renewable energy activities. This commitment is framed around the installation of 600 MW of wind energy and 300 MW of solar energy capacity, which will form the backbone of our efforts to address unemployment while also providing much needed funding for philanthropic efforts.
Though there are innumerable global challenges and worthy organizations that need financial support, Business Creation has identified the needs of children as a particular area of focus for their philanthropy. As part of this commitment, BC will invest in supporting basic needs and education for orphans, primarily in Eastern Europe and Africa. The company believes that education in things like performing arts and music, in particular, will enable orphans to be better equipped to become successful in later life.
