Background

The Irfan Kathwari Foundation was established by Farooq Kathwari and his family. Farooq Kathwari was born in Kashmir, a region which has seen major conflicts and displacement of people. As a young person, Farooq Kathwari and his family were among those displaced and separated from their family for a long period of time. The inspiration to help the work of Refugees International is due to this personal background. Mr. Kathwari also serves on the Board of Refugees International.
