Tech Girls Rock
In 2011, CA Technologies, in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), committed to a new initiative called Tech Girls Rock. CA Technologies made a commitment of a $1,000,000 contribution to BGCA over two years to support this initiative, which aims to empower and inspire tween and teen girls, ages 9 to 13, to discover an interest in technology, and, ultimately, tech-related educational opportunities and careers. The 1,000 BGCA club members who commit to participate in Tech Girls Rock will be measured by pre- and post-program attitudinal surveys to demonstrate whether there is a positive shift toward participant interest in post-secondary educational opportunities and technology careers. CA Technologies employees participate in the program as mentors and workshop participants. Locations for the Tech Girls Rock initiative through 2013 were chosen based on the highest BCGA need and where CA Technologies has offices.
In 2013, carbon dioxide emissions comprised 82 percent of all U.S. greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere from human activities. The rising concern for our environment and the sustainability of the planet has led to more focused efforts on reversing the effects of climate change.
