Commitment to Action

Call Me MISTER Pipeline to Cheyney University and Beyond

Commitment by

Cheyney University of Pennsylvania

In 2010, Cheyney University (CU) committed to adopting a local high school to decrease the high-school dropout rate and increase the college enrollment rate in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Adopting Academy Park High School, a school that was cited by the state for not making adequate yearly progress, CU plans to run mentorship programs, visitations to CU's campus, and parent workshops on financing college education. CU hopes this program will encourage students to stay in school as well as show them the benefits of a college education. Additionally, CU will run a social media campaign to hopefully encourage other universities to follow CU's initiative.
