Through this commitment, CDI will provide free of charge: teacher training, technical assistance, development of specific curricula for different social groups, and supply computers, printers, and software. Once the school is created, GEO Capital will continue to assist in its development.
In addition to providing free computers and software, GEO Capital will assist in implementing educational methods, training instructors, and monitoring the schools. Currently, CDI Uruguay has 35 schools operating both in rural and urban areas throughout the country. GEO Capital aims to strengthen the current network of schools and scale-up the impact, through the creation of an online e-learning platform and further develop the company-school model, by making it more efficient and sustainable.
Apart from the financial commitment to the program, GEO Capital will have a representative on the CDI Uruguay Board. Immediate goals include:
- Strengthen and expantion of CDI School network by updating the course offering to be more focused on social development and customize it according to the communities' needs.
- Develop a process to enhance the participation and extend the knowledge to families and communities in order to have better results through Communitarian Telecenters. They will work through CDI Uruguay's partnership with the Ceibal plan, which provides laptop's to students in primary education.
- Create an e-learning platform to complement the current courses, to reach more students and come up with a more scalable model.
Uruguay is opening its doors for business by creating advances in technology, while also making education available to its children. GEO Capital will supplement these efforts by helping provide increased access to technology and education for its citizens.
