Government School Intervention Program: Isha Vidhya

In 2015, Isha Vidhya committed to scale its Government School Adoption Program from forty schools to fifty schools to reach an additional 10,449 students. These new schools include five girls’ higher secondary schools and five co-educational middle schools located in Villupuram District, Tamil Nadu. The Government School Adoption Program interventions include hiring teachers to fill critical gaps in the classrooms, providing special assistance to ensure academic proficiency of all students, and implementing an English language skills program. Arts, yoga, sports, health and environmental awareness programs will also be conducted at each school to ensure that the 10,449 students affected by this program receive a holistic education. To support this program, Isha Vidya will be hiring an additional forty seven teachers who will receive training through the Isha Vidhya teacher training.
