A Year in Review: 11 Inspiring Moments from 2016
Dec 22, 2016Since 2001, the Clinton Foundation has worked to improve lives around the world and build upon President Clinton’s legacy of public service.
In 2007, Coca-Cola de México committed to a five-year partnership with Pronatura and the Mexico National Forestry Commission (Conafor) to plant 30 million trees in deforested lands throughout Mexico. The goals are: to support climate protection through the recovery of Mexican forests and restoration of forest ecosystems; to protect biodiversity and restore ecosystem benefits once provided by forests in Mexico; and to mitigate poverty through the creation of jobs associated with this reforestation effort.
The Coca-Cola Foundation-Mexico will be responsible for the reforestation of 25,000 hectares (61,776 acres) of land that is of great importance, due to its aquifers. Its other activities include the building of infrastructure in deforested lands to recharge groundwater in the Mexico City basin, and the promotion of sustainable activities near degraded forest lands with local communities.
